Spinning the prayer wheels
Thursday was spent in Namche and there is really not much to say about it. I walked around town, talked to various people, checked email, ate, and went to sleep.
Today we departed Namche and hiked to Deboche. The day was mostly cloudy so there were no views of any of the big mountains today. The walk out of Namche starts quite steeply and then levels off for a long way followed by a big drop to the river, where we had lunch, and then a 75 minute uphill to Tengboche. There is a great bakery in Tengboche that serves everything from chocolate cake to apple strudel. From there the walk is only 10 minutes to where we are now. The total walking time today was about four hours.
Upon arrival in Deboche it started to snow and quite a bit accumulated on the ground. I am now in the dining area drinking hot chocolate. It is very hot in here with the wood stove cooking away. Tomorrow we will go to Dingboche for two days. I am feeling good and moving well.
